UFC Light Heavyweight champ Jon “Bones” Jones was arrested early this morning for DUI after he totaled his Bentley in upstate New York … TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … Jones was involved in an accident at around 5:00 AM in Binghamton, NY. We’re told the car — which Jones crashed into a pole — was totaled and cops arrested Jones on the scene for DUI.

According to our sources, Jones was taken into custody by Broome County Sheriff and bailed out a few hours later … by his mom. Jones is from nearby Ithaca.

How’s this for irony? Jones filmed a video earlier this year about going through police training — and he did it with the Broome County Sheriff … the same agency that arrested him!

Jones last fought on April 21, defeating Rashad Evans by unanimous decision. His next scheduled fight is on September 1 in Las Vegas against Dan Henderson.

They don’t call Floyd Mayweather Jr. “Money” for nothing.

Mayweather’s junior middleweight title victory against Miguel Cotto on HBO PPV last Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas generated a whopping 1.5 million pay-per-view buys and $94 million in domestic pay-per-view revenue, HBO Sports announced Friday.

The performance ranks as the second-highest grossing pay-per-view for a non-heavyweight fight in history.
No. 1 all-time remains Mayweather’s 2007 victory against Oscar De La Hoya, in which he also claimed a junior middleweight belt. That fight generated all-time records for any weight class with 2.46 million buys and $137 million in pay-per-view revenue.

The 1.5 million figure for Mayweather-Cotto will grow once all of the numbers are accounted for, according to Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer, who promoted the fight with Mayweather Promotions.

“The 1.5 million number is actual reported numbers,” Schaefer told ESPN.com. “The final number will definitely be bigger than what it is now.”

In nine HBO PPV main events, Mayweather has generated 9.6 million buys and $543 million in television revenue, according to HBO.

Mayweather-Cotto moved past Mayweather’s 2010 victory against Shane Mosley, which did 1.4 million buys and $78 million in revenue. Mayweather’s knockout of Victor Ortiz in September sold 1.25 million subscriptions and generated $78.4 million. The higher revenue for the Ortiz fight is because the cost of the pay-per-view was higher.

“Floyd Mayweather’s numbers are getting bigger and bigger and this number shows you the kind of draw he is,” Schaefer said. “He’s a superstar and able to capture the interest of a large audience. He has broken out of the boxing following and now has a mainstream following that is unmatched in the sport. The numbers keep getting bigger and bigger.”

According to the Nevada State Athletic Commission, Mayweather-Cotto also had the ninth-biggest gate in state history, generating $12,000,150 from 14,612 tickets sold.

HBO will replay Mayweather’s decision victory against Cotto on Saturday night, along with junior middleweight titlist Saul “Canelo” Alvarez’s decision win against Shane Mosley, which was the co-feature of the card.

Former UFC fighter Paul Kelly was arrested on Monday for allegedly conspiring to supply Class A and B drugs, according to a report from the Liverpool Echo.

Kelly was one of several individuals arrested in a drug-related sting that included the execution of 14 search warrants. Police found cannabis plants, what was believed to be heroin, firearms ammunition, and confiscated large amounts of money in the raids, which included several locations and other individuals besides Kelly.
Detective Inspector Mark Kameen, who is the lead on the investigation, stated, “This operation was part of our ongoing crackdown on criminals involved in the illegal drugs trade.

“These arrests demonstrate the importance of the community supplying us with information so we can take action.”
Kelly left the UFC following a loss to Donald Cerrone at UFC 126 last year. He has had only one fight since, losing a unanimous decision to Ryan Healy at Super Fight League 2 in India last month.
Now he’ll be fighting an entirely different type of fight.

I know its been awhile since we have done an interview, But we had a chance to catch up with the one and only Guru of muscle, Dave Palumbo. I personally have always liked his theories on training and nutrition. At a time when people were in the closet about steroids and still using outdated training methods, Dave took the bodybuilding game to another level.

1.	I know all of bodybuilding and probably most of the team sports world knows who you are but please tell the Combat Sports world about the controversy, logic and being of Dave Palumbo?

I’m just a regular guy doing what he’s passionate about. I always believed that if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life…..and you’ll always make a good living. I left medical school in my 3rd year. Became a competitive bodybuilder. Started my own nutrition company; and run my own bodybuilding media website: RxMuscle.com.

2.	I know you are very pro-steroid, why do you feel the masses are still scared of the benefits of Growth hormone and anabolic steroids?

People are afraid of what they don’t know. Ignorance is what fosters the steroid hysteria. That, combined with the media frenzy surrounding the governments witch hunt against professional athletes trying to improve their performance.

3. I personally feel your supplement theories have helped my Jiu Jitsu game, but please explain how they could benefit the jiu jitsu player, wrestler, boxer etc. and what supplements should combat sports athletes be currently taking?

SPECIES Nutrition’s line of products was truly developed to help ME perform better in the gym and live a healthier life. It was a very selfish endeavor that turned into a beneficent act on my part because all the followers of my nutritional beliefs jumped on the bandwagon and all started using the supplements. SPECIES champions a line of thinking that states: “Only put the highest quality products in your body!” With that in mind, I have the purest, most potent, whey protein isolate (ISOLYZE) on the market. Likewise, my waxy maize starch post-workout carb replacement drink (CARBOLYZE) is completely sugar-free yet packs 40g of complex carbs that are more readily absorbed that anything else on the market. Adding to those products are the most complete essentially fatty acid supplement (OMEGALYZE) and the most potent joint repair product (ARTHROLYZE) that money can buy. Our new pre-workout supplement, NITROLYZE, should be available for purchase in about another week or so. Available in both stimulant-free and caffeine-enhanced (FREAK FORMULA) variations, it should completely change the scope of what a pre-workout is supposed to do for you.

4.	I have a personally philosophy that three good meals a day (give or take a protein shake), plus good supplementation can give you a good physique, since you have been incarcerated do you feel this theory can work? Because I have heard the food and healthcare suck ass in prison.

I ate 7x a day in prison to maintain my physique. I believe that protein needs to be consumed every 2-3 hours throughout the day because of its incessant need by the body to build and repair muscle, synthesize enzymes and hormones, and replace skin, hair, and nails. Since the only viable protein in prison was from tuna or mackerel, I rationed myself to 7 chunk light tuna packets per day.

5.	You have always been a well spoken man what books do you like to read or live by?

For enjoyment, I love fantasy-adventure and sci-fi novels but most of the stuff I read these days is geared toward spiritual development and evolution. I read anything that Wayne Dyer writes. He’s my mentor of sorts in the realm of the intangible. I also love reading up on anything I’m currently obsessed about. Whether it is nutrition, ozone therapy, life extension products, tropical fish, or newest astronomical discoveries and advances in medicine.

6.	What has life been life after the FEDS and after MD magazine? (which we all know you and Romano played a major role in building) And what current or new ventures are you working on now? And how can we get more information about you and your products?

I’m always recreating and reinventing myself. Currently I’m nurturing the www.RxMuscle.com website which I believe will be the ESPN for bodybuilding and fitness in the future. There’s currently no TV station to find out about training, diet, and competition results. Rx Muscle is one-stop shopping for everything in the fitness industry. We bill ourselves as “The Truth in Bodybuilding & Fitness”. Not only do we do “straight” coverage, we also embrace the entertainment aspect of our industry. The Workout community has the greatest group of personalities that I’ve ever seen. I’m showcasing them in fun videos, the Heavy Muscle TV Show, and on our 8 radio shows every week. Once the masses see that bodybuilders are actually real people with the same foibles as the rest of us, they will fully embrace our industry and I guarantee we’ll see it grow to epic proportions.

To purchase my SPECIES Nutrition products, visit www.speciesnutrition.com

Thanks to Dave for taking the time to chat with us check out his supplement line and please stay tuned we are carrying more products and more interviews, Coming really soon. Peace

Nick Diaz had quite the weekend.

By this point, nothing Diaz does should surprise us in the least. As Ben Fowlkes over at MMAFighting.com pointed out, you’ve only got yourself to blame if you were upset by Diaz no-showing his Saturday night jiu-jitsu superfight against Braulio Estima.

That’s not entirely true. I was, in fact, just a little bit surprised. After all, this was jiu-jitsu, one of Nick’s great loves. He was doing it for the love of the art and for charity. Surely everything would go according to plan, right?

I guess not. I’m sure we’ll get an explanation from the Diaz camp today that makes sense on a certain level. And you can be sure his followers will buy into it, because that’s what they do. I really enjoy following Nick’s career as it unfolds—even through times like Saturday night, when he makes it increasingly difficult to be a fan—but dealing with his most hardcore of fans? That’s a different story entirely.

But in truth, Diaz shouldn’t be worried about what transpired on Saturday night. Not today, anyway. Because today is the day Diaz takes his marijuana failure case from February in front of a Las Vegas judge.

Team Diaz is attempting to score an injunction that would put an end to the temporary and indefinite suspension handed down by the Las Vegas commission after Diaz tested positive for marijuana metabolites after the loss to Carlos Condit at UFC 143.

This is a date Diaz simply cannot afford to no-show. If the judge on today’s case rules in his favor, Diaz will surely be free to come out of his faux retirement and take a fight immediately. A title rematch between Diaz and interim champion Condit could finally be booked, perhaps as the main event of UFC on FOX 4 in August. And Nick’s career—which came to a crashing and emotional halt after he lost to Condit—would suddenly be revitalized.

Nick might wake up this morning and decide he doesn’t really feel like going to Vegas, that he’d rather stay home and do whatever it is he does before triathlon training later in the day. He might just decide that his career and future aren’t worth taking the few hours he’d need to travel to Las Vegas and appear in front of a judge before returning home.

But I hope he gets out of Stockton today. I hope he goes to court. He’s got a very real chance to beat the Nevada commission and return to the cage, and that’s the one place he shines.

Floyd Mayweather Gives Back To Youth Boxing, Sponsors 2012 Golden Gloves Tourney

Floyd Mayweather may get a bad wrap for his controversial statements in the media, but what he’s done in boxing has made him arguably the sport’s biggest star. With all his success, he makes sure to give back.

The undefeated boxing champ recently signed on as a title sponsor for the annual 2012 Golden Gloves Nationals Tournament of Champions for youths.

Tournament Director Dawn Sanchez said Mayweather, himself a former Golden Gloves champion, jumped at the opportunity to help the event that will draw more than 300 standout boxers from all over the nation.

“We needed help covering the expenses and Floyd didn’t flinch about jumping in to assist the event,” Sanchez said. “We went to him and within a week he had committed to assisting the tournament. We are so appreciative for his efforts and dedication in giving back to where he started his career.

“When we have someone of the stature of Floyd Mayweather giving back to the sport of Golden Gloves boxing, that tells you about the man himself,” she continued.

“The Golden Gloves is where I got my start in boxing,” added Mayweather. “It is so important to me to support amateur boxing because I want to give young fighters the opportunity to showcase their skills and make their own way in the sport that has given me so much. Without these opportunities, boxing cannot continue to grow and I feel like it is my responsibility to do what I can to help it continue.”

Mayweather’s sponsor includes a six-figure commitment for various other elements related to youth boxing events. He previously sponsored the 2008 National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions in his hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan

He held an 84-6 record in the amateurs, and wasa multiple National Golden Gloves champion. Ironically, Sanchez’s husband, Augie, fought Mayweather and beat him once before losing twice to him twice in the Olympic Box-Offs for the 1996 Olympic Games.

Around 300 boxers, aged 17-34 and from states all over the country, will converge on Mesquite, Nevada, located about 80 miles north of Las Vegas, from Monday (April 30) through Saturday (May 5).

Tickets start at $12 and may be purchased at 2012NationalGoldenGloves.com .

Also May 5th, Mayweather will take on champion Miguel Cotto for the WBA Super Welterweight World title at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Apr 16, 2012 – Last week, veteran fighter and broadcaster Frank Trigg was the subject of reports that implicated him in an alleged domestic abuse case with his wife, stemming from an incident that happened last October. According to the report, which originated on celebrity gossip website TheDirty.com, the abuse incident coupled with an affair with an HDNet co-worker led to Trigg’s ouster as a commentator for the cable channel.

The report from TheDirty.com claimed that he had been found guilty of domestic violence as a result of the incident. Trigg appeared on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour, and while he declined to answer several questions due to a gag order around the divorce proceedings, he blasted the report and ensuing coverage around it.

“I’ve never been arrested, I’ve never been picked up, I’ve never been convicted of anything ever in my life other than a speeding ticket,” he said. “That’s the only thing I’ve ever been convicted of. That’s it. So I don’t know where this other stuff is coming from. I have no idea what’s going on, but I’ve never been charged with any crime ever in my life, ever, other than speeding and maybe a couple illegal parkings.

Earlier on Monday, Trigg released a public statement through his media relations representative, which more directly denied the incident, calling it “completely false.”

On The MMA Hour, he said The Dirty report was “one-third of a story,” implying that important details were left out. He said his divorce was finalized just days prior to the report coming out, and that the two sides were waiting on final paperwork and a visitation agreement, among a few other things.

“There is a court order,” he said. “We’re not allowed to talk about each other publicly and she obviously breached it.”

The alleged incident did however cost Trigg his job with HDNet. Trigg said that when HDNet was nearing an agreement with Seacrest Media, AEG and Creative Artists Agency to rebrand the channel, there were internal concerns about how such an incident may be perceived.

“They were very nervous because of the affiliation that someone with a vendetta could make public statements about me that were untrue and inflammatory,” he said. “There’s nothing I could do about it, because once it’s on the internet, it’s on the internet. They couldn’t take the chance with a loose cannon being out there, and that’s exactly what happened. That’s 100 percent what happened. You can’t fault HDNet for trying to save their company and trying to expand their network and what they’re trying to do with their network by letting me go. They were scared of what was going to happen, and it happened.”

Meanwhile, Trigg says his career is effectively shut down for now. His broadcasting slate is empty, and although he doesn’t consider himself a retired fighter, he has nothing planned on that front, either.

While tending to his children, he’ll wait and hope for a break.

“I can say I want to do it all day long, but if you don’t hire me for three years, then I’m going to go be a waiter,” he said “If I sit around and wait a month, and I kind of put things together and then get a couple jobs, then I’m back in the game. So I have no idea. I can’t answer that, it’s out of my control.”
